Years of Operation: At least 1968 - 1982
Ernest and Sylvia Otto operated Otto Implement located in rural Nevada, Iowa a 1/2 mile north of E29 on 640th Ave. They were a Minneapolis-Moline and Allis Chalmers dealer. They added the Oliver machinery line in 1971 like many other dealers did as Oliver and Minneapolis Moline were combined by parent company White Farm Equipment. Otto Implement was a family operation - Ernest's wife Sylvia was the bookkeeper and worked the parts counter. Their son's Howard and Steve were mechanics at the dealership. By the late 1970's, the dealership offered White Farm Equipment and Deutz tractors. Ernest was one of the hosts for the 1980 Farm Progress Show held in Nevada. The dealership was purchased by Ernest's son-in-law Leroy Renfrow who operated the dealership until around 1982. Ernest and Sylvia then moved to Missouri and operated a farming operation.
