Years of Operation: 1925 - 1976
Hilding Lund was born in 1902 in Moline, Illinois. He entered the implement business in 1925. It is believed he started with Oliver Chilled Plows and became a full line Oliver dealer when Oliver Farm Equipment was formed in 1929. Hilding sold one of the first single front wheel Standard Row Crop 18-27 tractors. H.E. Lund also was the Chevrolet dealer in Princeton before 1939. In addition Olivers and Chevy's, the dealership also sold Minneapolis-Moline, New Holland, New Idea, home appliances, heating systems, and plumbing fixtures!
Hilding sold his implement business around 1975 to Darrel Thomsen and they continued to use the H.E. Lund name until fall 1976 when it became Princeton Implement Inc. Hilding kept his Chevrolet dealer contract and continued to sell Chevrolet's from this location until around 1980. By 1983, Lund's former dealership was now Mississippi Valley Farm Equipment and then moved to Walcott closing the Princeton location. Hilding passed away in December 1988. |
