Years of Operation: 1964 - 1968
The Oliver Corporation was in need of a new dealer for the Boone area in the summer of 1964. In November 1964, Boone Tractor & Equipment, Inc. was named the new Oliver dealer for Boone county. They were located at 820 10th Street and had been a Ford implement dealer in 1963 when they acquired the Ford dealership. The dealership corporation included the following officers: Charles Nalean - President, Ted Swason - Vice President, William Lehman - Secretary. The service manager was Harold Weidner, store manager was George Cole, sales manager was William Lehman, and head mechanic was John Stiles. John had previously been an Oliver mechanic at Don Peterson Motor & Implement Co. Bob Johnson and Keith Hunt also worked as mechanics for the dealership in 1965.
In February 1967, Boone Tractor & Equipment, Inc. moved west of Boone to Ogden (outside of town on old Highway 30). Advertising lists them as Ford and Oliver dealers at the time of the move. By 1969, Oliver was not listed as one of the brands they sold thus closing the history books on Oliver dealers in Boone county, Iowa. They continued to advertise Ford tractors into the 1970s operating as Boone County Implement in Ogden. The dealership building in Boone from 1964 - 1967 still exists today and is shown below.
